PETALING JAYA: There is no change on the fuel prices of RON97, RON95 and diesel for the following week.

The Finance Ministry said the price of RON97 would remain at RM2.66 per litre beginning Saturday until Dec 6.

The prices of RON95 and diesel would also be at RM2.08 per litre and RM2.18 per litre respectively.

"Based on the calculation under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), the retail prices for both RON95 and diesel should be RM2.36 per litre and RM2.29 per litre, respectively," it said in a statement today.

It added that the estimated subsidy to be borne by the government for the one-week period stood at about RM115.7mil.

The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was re-introduced on Jan 5 under the APM.

Under the system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week.

However, the RON95 petrol price will be floated in stages from Jan 1 next year as the subsidy is removed for most Malaysians. Only 8 million Malaysian motorists in the lower income and middle income groups will continue to enjoy subsidised RON95 petrol under a targeted subsidy programme.
