PETALING JAYA: Motorists with outstanding traffic summonses will get discounts of up to 50% on their penalties when they pay them online from May 18.
For four days until May 21, motorists can enjoy the discount when they pay their summonses online via www.myeg.com.my and www.rilek.com.my.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department director Deputy Comm Datuk Azisman Alias hoped that the discount would come as a relief to motorists are burdened by challenging times.
"We understand some may be facing difficulties during the movement control order (MCO) while others may be preparing to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri," he said.
DCP Azisman also said traffic service counters at district police headquarters nationwide would start reopening in stages beginning May 18 to facilitate summons payments as well as insurance documentation for road accidents.
The counters are expected to be open from 9am to 2pm every Monday and Wednesday in Perlis, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
On Fridays, the counters will be open from 9am to noon.
Meanwhile, in Kedah, Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu, counters will be open every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday from 9am to 2pm.
DCP Azisman also advised motorists to be mindful of standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the conditional MCO when dealing at the counters.
