KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) launched its Stay Alert, Stay Hydrated campaign which offers a beverage combo of a can of Nescafe and a bottle of mineral water for only RM3.50 in collaboration with Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd and the Road Safety Department Malaysia (JKJR).

This campaign is to promote road safety amongst motorists and is aimed at educating the public on the dangers of microsleeping - brief, unintended episodes of attention loss due to fatigue.

According to a report by JKJR, the number of accidents have increased over the years from 200,000 cases in 1997 to over 500,000 cases in 2016. On average, these accidents have resulted in about 6,000 fatalities per year and in 2016, the number has increased to over 7,000.
