2017 Putra Brand Awards recognises Perodua and Proton

KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua won Gold at this year's Putra Brand Awards and Proton secured a Silver. It was Perodua's first Gold award in seven years, while it was Proton's first time to have won a Putra award.

Last night's ceremony, held at the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, marks the seventh consecutive time Perodua has received an award and the first time it has been presented with a Gold. The awards began in 2010.

“This award is a true recognition to Perodua, a home-grown brand, as a preferred brand and we sincerely thank all Malaysians for their endorsement and trust in us,” said Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Dr Aminar Rashid Salleh.

He said that Perodua is embarking on major initiatives to enhance Customer Satisfaction which include improving Perodua’s product offerings; improve end-to- end services, such as facilitating trade-ins through its Pre-Owned Vehicle business and better customer engagements in both sales and after sales.

Perodua, established in 1993, has sold over three million vehicles and has been the country’s most preferred brand since 2006.

Taking the silver award was Proton, the local carmaker's first award win.

“This is the first time we have been shortlisted and we emerged a winner for this distinguished award," said Proton sales and marketing vice president Abdul Rashid Musa.

He added that With another recent win for our Iriz refinement model at the Carsifu Editor’s Choice Award 2017 and the recent improvement in their sales performance for January to September 2017, such an acknowledgement means that they are pointed in the right direction.

The Putra Brand Awards is an initiative by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) to recognise local and international brands that are near and dear to the hearts of Malaysians.

Measuring brands across 24 sector categories through a robust consumer research methodology; the award is endorsed by MATRADE and supported by the Branding Association of Malaysia (BAM); The Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA) and the Media Specialists Association (MSA).

A total of 6,000 respondents were interviewed to determine Malaysia’s best brands according to ranking.
