MALACCA: BMW Group Malaysia has announced two charging stations at the Ramada Plaza hotel here, adding to the growing list of public places in the country where plug-in vehicles can get juiced up.

The i charging facilities at the hotel join BMW Malaysia’s growing charging network, which include those installed at the Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat and WEIL Hotel in Ipoh and Iconic Hotel, Penang. The two chargers were installed through BMW's Malacca dealer Seong Hoe Premium Motors.

"With this partnership with BMW Malaysia and Seong Hoe Premium Motors, we can now look after the e-mobility needs of our guests," said Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Melaka general manager Klaus Sennik.

The chargers are open to the public to use even if they own cars from other brands. However, priority would be given to hotel guests especially those with BMW cars.

Seong Hoe Premium Motors dealer principal Loy Suan Chiow said more people in the state were buying electrified cars and the additional chargers would help make them more accessible.

In Malaysia, electrified vehicles account for over 57% of the total BMW and MINI delivery from January to November this year, while the number of electrified vehicles delivered year-on-year has also increased to more than 34% from over 5,100 to over 6,900 units.

Owners of BMW electrified cars such as the 330e and X5 xDrive40e can also use the BMW ChargeNow service to tap into ChargEV chargers that are installed by the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation.
