RM1 will get you Shell goodies or a Grab ride

KUALA LUMPUR: What's the value of RM1 nowadays? Not much. But if you ask Shell or Grab taxi, you can stretch that ringgit a bit more through their respective promotions.

In case you are not aware, Shell is holding the "Get More with RM1" promotion until April 30. And Grab is doing something similar to stretch that RM1 for you.

Shell customers who spend at least RM40 on any Shell fuel or lubricants can buy selected products from its range of partners for only RM1. Alternatively, customers may choose to redeem these products with 100 BonusLink Points instead of RM1. Partners include  Lipton, Yeo’s, Gatorade, Seasons, Kit Kat, Oishi, Milo, Revive, Wonda, Tropicana Frutz, 100 Plus, Ranger, Coke, Mountain Dew and SL Peanut.

The weekly promotion began on March 1.

As for Grab, passengers can take rides up to 5km for just RM1 during the promotional period from April 7-13.

The condition is that customers must pay by GrabPay, a cashless payment service by Grab, which requires users to register their credit or debit cards with the company.

There's no limit to the number of rides for RM1 you can take during the April 7-13 period as long as each ride does not exceed 5km. The promotion is applicable to the Klang Valley and Johor Baru.

GrabTaxi was rebranded to Grab in January and is a rapidly growing ride-hailing service in Southeast Asia. Since launching in 2012, Grab has evolved from a humble taxi-booking app to Southeast Asia’s largest land transport company, with over 200,000 drivers and over 11 million mobile downloads.

Grab group CEO and co-founder Anthony Tan had said that Grab is "not only providing passengers with a transport service, it is saving them time and ensuring they have a safe ride.”
