AYER HITAM: In line with the extension of the recovery movement control order (MCO), the Transport Ministry is extending the deadline for the renewal of road tax and driving licence.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the renewal period, initially slated to end on Aug 31, had been extended until Sept 30.

He said the decision was made after taking into consideration the hardships and financial problems faced by the people due to their income being affected by the pandemic.

“I still receive feedback from the public about their financial difficulties, so I have decided to exercise my authority as minister to extend the payment period until the end of September.
“The one-month extension is a reasonable amount of time for those with expired road tax and driving licence to find the means to settle the payment as soon as possible, ” he said at a Road Transport Department community programme here today.
