KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) will be carrying out e-bidding (JPJeBid) for vehicle registration plates on Sept 24.
Its director, Mohd Syafiq Anas Abdullah, said it would start with the QCK series for Samarahan, QS ending with L series for Sibu while a new series would be announced for Kuching and Miri later.
“JPJeBid has already been in use in the peninsula since April 15 (and has received) overwhelming response.
“It is now being expanded to Sarawak, ” he told reporters after attending a Hari Raya Aidiladha event here yesterday.
Mohd Syafiq added that the public and companies that already had their records in the MySikap system, and were interested in bidding only need to register at a JPJ branch to get an ID code to enable them to do so.
“This system is more effective because it is transparent, while cutting out manual work and middlemen, ” he added.
