BEIJING: The new Lexus ES 300h hybrid luxury sedan was highlighted in Beijing, with its ultra-efficient, Atkinson cycle 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and electric motor.
Its hybrid powertrain electric motor deliver a combined 205hp and more than 17km per litre in combined driving.
There are three different wheel designs (17- and 18-inch) for the ES 350 and ES 300h while the ES 350 F Sport gets 19-inch wheels with a design similar to that found on the LC coupe.
Meanwhile, all ES 350s are powered by a 3.5-litre V6 producing 300hp and 355Nm of torque, mated to a eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. It's more powerful (+32hp, +19Nm) compared to the previous generation V6.
In select global markets, the ES will be offered as an ES 250, powered by an all-new 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine.
All versions of the seventh-generation ES feature the new Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 as standard.
It includes daytime bicyclist detection which is part of the Pre-Collision System (PCS) that can detect oncoming vehicles and pedestrians.
Another new safety safety in the ES is a two-stage adaptive high beam system (AHS) with a 24-LED light array that can adapt the light pattern to provide enhanced illumination while reducing glare for oncoming drivers.
