IPOH: A stretch on the North-South Expressway heading north near Gunung Lang will be temporarily closed off to traffic to fix a sinkhole at KM272.

In a statement released on its website, PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) said the road would be reopened as soon as the repair was done and advice sought from technical experts on-site.

It said the 2.1m wide and 2.1m deep sinkhole was discovered during a patrol on Monday (May 27) at 3.30pm.

"The left lane was closed immediately as a safety measure for all highway customers.

"This anomaly did not result in any untoward incident involving highway customers driving along that stretch.

"PLUS' series of extensive inspections at nearby locations confirmed no further sinkholes were identified," it added.

PLUS also advised motorists heading north to exit the highway at the Ipoh South toll plaza and re-enter at the Ipoh North interchange.

"All customers are advised to drive carefully and adhere to traffic signage and instructions along the affected stretch.

"PLUS will continuously share its latest traffic updates at the affected stretch via PLUSTrafik Twitter, PLUS Mobile app and electronic signage placed at strategic locations along the highway," it added.
