BRUSSELS, Belgium: New platforms under the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) philosophy have delivered a step-change in the ride, handling and styling of new models.
The first, the GA-C platform for mid-sized cars is the foundation for the latest-generation Prius, the C-HR and Corolla.
Meanwhile, the GA-K platform underpins the new Camry and the new RAV4.
Now, the debut of the GA-B platform translates the philosophy and technology of TNGA to small cars.
In simple terms, the goal of TNGA is to deliver better cars at lower costs via means such as a greater focus on standardised parts and components.
The new GA-B platform uses the MacPherson strut front suspension, while the rear suspension can be either torsion beam or multi-link design.
The GA-B platform also positions the driver’s seat low and back towards the centre of the car, helping to reduce the vehicle’s centre of gravity.
The new GA-B platform also maximises interior space via smart packaging.
