Toyota Hilux owners, watch out for hijackers

KAJANG: Police are on the hunt for a vehicle theft gang which has been targeting Toyota Hilux pickup trucks in Kajang, Selangor.

The gang of four men has been responsible for at least five related cases since the end of February in Sungai Long and Bandar Mahkota Cheras.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said that the gang will attack the drivers of the Hilux at petrol stations or when they stop by the roadside.

“They are often armed with machetes and knives. We have already obtained actionable leads and are in the midst of tracking them down,” he said when contacted on Thursday (March 22).

The police have received reports of one Hilux theft and four attempted thefts between the end of February and March 21.

He was commenting on a video and pictures that went viral on social media, claiming four men have been active in stealing vehicles in Sungai Long and Bandar Mahkota Cheras.

ACP Ahmad Dzaffir also urged anyone with information to contact Kajang CID officer Asst Supt Mohd Irwan at 017-3168097.
