KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT), a subsidiary of UMW Holdings Bhd, sold 6,468 units in October 2020, an increase of 15.4 per cent from the 5,605 units it sold in September.
In a statement today, UMW said top sales contributors for October were Toyota Vios, Yaris and Hilux.
It said the sales tax exemption announced by the government, effective June 15 until Dec 31, this year has helped to lift sales in the second half of the year.
The group’s automotive market share is estimated at 58 per cent in October, a significant increase from the 51.4 per cent registered in 2019.
Given the improved sales achieved by both UMWT and its 38 per cent-associate company Perodua in the month of October, UMW is on track to meet its full-year sales target.
“Having already sold 43,807 units for the first 10 months of 2020, UMWT is on track to achieve its revised sales target of 53,000 units for the year,” it said.
