KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia today officially welcomes Charles Frump as its new managing director.

He replaces Nalin Jain, who had served from 2019-2020. Nalin had left Volvo to join Mahindra & Mahindra in Mumbai.

Frump will continue Nalin's responsibilities in overseeing the company’s overall operations and driving Volvo’s electrification vision in Malaysia.

Frump joins Volvo Car Malaysia from Volvo Car India, where he had been serving as managing director since 2017.

Frump’s association with Volvo Cars dates back to 2009, where he worked as the marketing director in Volvo Car Japan.

With over 20 years of automotive experience in different markets across Asia, the United States and Europe, Frump has also held global, regional, and local roles in the areas of marketing, sales, customer service and network management.

“I am excited to embark on a new chapter of my journey with Volvo in a new market. I see Malaysia as a crossroad of the places I have been in the past, and I look forward to working closely with the local team, individual by individual, to build our strengths,” said Frump.

Frump holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in International Marketing from UCLA Anderson School of Management, Los Angeles, USA.

He completed his bachelor’s in economics and mathematics from St Olaf College, Minnesota, USA.

Frump’s appointment follows Volvo’s global announcement of becoming a fully electric car company by 2030.

More recently, Volvo Cars launched its "Ultimate Safety Test" campaign to declare climate change as the greatest safety challenge humans face today.
