VW Malaysia promises quick turnaround time with first technical service centre

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Group Malaysia has introduced the Volkswagen Technical Service Centre as part of its efforts to improve its aftersales service.

The centre, the first of its kind in Malaysia, will operate as a specialist care centre for repair and aftersales service, employing modern diagnostics equipment and a team of trained mechanics operating under the guidance of Volkswagen-certified master engineers.

The centre, based in Jalan Sungai Penchala in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here, is equipped to deal with repairs and after-sales service for all non-commercial Volkswagen vehicles, regardless of age or model.

Featuring 10 work bays and additional space for 20 more vehicles, the centre has an estimated service capacity of 7,000 vehicles a year.  With 17 employees on hand, Volkswagen said the centre has a targeted turnaround time of 24 hours for the vast majority of vehicles.

The centre, set up with dealer Cergaz Autohaus,  will incorporate a 24/7 towing service to handle vehicle breakdowns, in addition to handling regular appointments scheduled through the dealer.



“The new Volkswagen Technical Service Centre is part of Volkswagen Malaysia’s continuing commitment to world-class after-sales service here in Malaysia, and underlines our promise of being ‘Always by your Side’," said Volkswagen Group Malaysia managing director of Armin Keller at a media luncheon at a hotel here today.

Two more such centres are expected to be opened this year in Batu Caves and Puchong in the Klang Valley.

Other aftersales initiatives included boosting service capacity nationwide, introduction of a concierge service and enhancement of its roadside assist service known as Volkswagen Mobility Guarantee Programme.

Volkswagen said there are now 44 extra work bays at its service centres nationwide and more technicians have been trained and deployed to cut  waiting times for service appointments, from 10 days down to an average of only two days.

In addition, the new concierge service is now in operation at 10 aftersales service centres across the country. The concierges are frontline staff trained as first point of contact when customers enter the service centre, and enhance the quality of the customer experience.

The roadside assist service had also been enhanced with over 200 vehicles in the fleet now.

On current promotions, Volkswagen Malaysia said its Polo promotion was encouraging with over 50% more units bought since the campaign started in March. In the "Polo Goes Zero" campaign, the Polo and Polo Sedan are available for RM999 a month for seven years, with no downpayment and 0% interest.
