NEW YORK: A US dealer in new and luxury cars near here has imported the first Bugatti Divo, and proceeded to shoot an "unboxing" video of what is arguably one of the biggest toys, reserved for the rich and famous.

The 2 min 36s video by Miller Motorcars of Greenwich, Connecticut, started with the Divo being airfreighted from France into John F. Kennedy International Airport here, followed by its transportation aboard a truck to a huge warehouse, where the big reveal began ahead of a pre-delivery inspection.

Men in masks began to dismantle the big wooden crate housing the Divo before the gray-coloured supercar is slowly driven out to reveal itself in its full glory. The sound it makes and the signature tailight graphics are but a hint of the massive muscle within the frame of this supercar.

The short video clip has amassed over 900,000 views since it was posted up on Aug 7.

The limited edition Divo is based on the Chiron. It was named after Albert Divo who raced for Bugatti in the 1920s. Only 40 units are made for the world with a few allocated to US customers.

The Divo is hand-built in Molsheim, France, and each unit goes for €5 million (RM25mil) — for a start before options are considered.

The Divo uses an 8.0 litre W16 engine with 4 turbos making 1,500hp/1,600Nm to sprint from 0-100kph in 2.4s. Power is relayed to both axles via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

It is lighter than the Chiron and suspension and chassis settings have been revised. It offers 90kg more downforce than the Chiron.
