25 students riding motorcycles slapped with summonses while exiting school
By THE STAR | 27 May 2022NILAI: Students of SMK Dato Mohd here were "greeted" by a team of policemen at the exit gate after school was over today.
Some 25 students who were riding their motorcycles were slapped with summonses for various traffic offences including not having a valid licence, road tax for their machines and not wearing a helmet.
District police chief Supt Mohd Fazley Abd Rahman said in total, 29 summonses were issued.
"The exercise, codenamed Op Didik, was carried out to create awareness among students on the importance of complying with all traffic regulations.
"We hope the students will take heed and from now on ensure they have a valid licence, wear a helmet when riding and always follow the speed limit," he said.
Supt Mohd Fazley said the school management also supported the exercise as it was aimed at creating awareness on road safety and obeying traffic rules.
He said the police personnel had also met the school authorities to discuss problems related to students coming in their own vehicles to school.
"We will continue to hold such operations to educate the public in general on road safety and the importance of obeying traffic rules at all times," he added.
