Affordable KL condo comes with EV charging station — first of its kind
By THE STAR | 14 March 2024KUALA LUMPUR: An affordable housing project in Sentul here is the first of its kind to have an EV charging station.
Speaking at the key handover ceremony for SkyAwani V Residence by SkyWorld Development Bhd, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the EV charging facility was a step towards Kuala Lumpur achieving low-carbon city status.
“Despite the project being under the affordable home category and sold for RM300,000 per unit, it has condominium-like facilities, such as swimming pool and gymnasium.
“Developments such as this not only reduce the shortage of quality affordable housing supply to some extent, but also can help reduce traffic congestion during peak hours for residents who work in Kuala Lumpur.
“With improved accessibility, good infrastructure and an efficient public transport system, it will help make Kuala Lumpur a world-class city,” said Zaliha.
In a StarMetro article on Feb 8 titled “Developer marks completion of fifth affordable housing project in KL”, it was stated that the project received an 84% QLASSIC score and a five-star SHASSIC rating from the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).
The Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC) as well as Safety and Health Assessment System in Construction (SHASSIC) both serve as benchmarks for evaluating quality, safety and health aspects in construction projects.
SkyAwani V Residence is a part of the Residensi Wilayah project, spearheaded by the Federal Territories Department.
It aims to provide affordable homes throughout the Federal Territories, especially for low- and middle-income earners.
SkyAwani V Residence sits on 0.83ha and comprises 615 units in a 36-storey tower.
Each unit is 800 sq ft and all units have been sold.
Residents have access to 30 types of facilities including a terrace lawn, basketball court, jogging trail, multipurpose hall, games room, co-working space, rooftop sky lounge and a sky garden.
Twenty owners received keys to their new homes on the day of the launch.
