Cadillac Lyriq EV first of new naming convention for brand
By CARSIFU | 22 July 2020DETROIT: The Cadillac Lyriq, which will be the first fully electric Cadillac production vehicle, is due to debut in concept form in August.
According to a report by GMauthority, the Lyriq name is part of a new Cadillac naming structure that will see all vehicle names end in “iq.”
The GMauthority report quoted Cadillac’s head of global brand strategy, Phil Dauchy, as saying the “iq” names will replace the CT# and XT# nomenclature used on current cars and crossovers powered by internal combustion engines and are intended to signal a change of course at Cadillac – that being from ICE to EV.
The Lyriq name also came about because Cadillac is the most mentioned brand in songs, said Dauchy.
The “iq” suffix name is also applied to the brand's upcoming flagship luxury sedan Celestiq.
