China's Ding Yi shows off his art through Porsche Taycan Turbo S

STUTTGART: Ding Yi, a Chinese artist known for his abstract paintings, has created a one-off car based on the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

The car features details from Ding Yi's painting "Appearance of Crosses 2022-2" on the bonnet, rear spoiler, and exterior mirror housings.

The car's interior shows off Ding Yi's painting in trim, front and rear doors, dashboard, and front cup holders.

Although the surfaces of the interior are made of different materials, the colours of the picture details have a uniform look.

This was made possible by a special silkscreen printing technique. “This was also a first for us. Until now we had never used this printing technique over such a large area,” said Porsche vice president (individualisation and classic) Alexander Fabig.

The car's interior is not reproduced in full, but individual details are carefully selected to create the impression of sitting in the middle of the artwork while driving.

The one-off car is suitable for everyday use despite elaborate paintwork. The painting invites contemplation of the universe and its galaxies, engendering a dialogue with the passion, speed, and alternative energies that characterize the Taycan Turbo S. Ding Yi, who has owned Porsche models for years, chose the Taycan Turbo S because it was "the most impressive car of the early electromobility era."

He said he would be driving the one-off car at home in Shanghai.
