Exterior design of new Mitsubishi compact SUV previewed ahead of world premiere

TOKYO: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation will celebrate the global debut of an all-new compact SUV at the Aug 10-20 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show.

Ahead of the world premiere, the company revealed the exterior design of the car. The all-new model will be built at Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia, west Java, with delivery to start in November.

The SUV combines elegance and robustness, which its Japanese maker said would create a commanding presence in Asean cities and outdoor scenes.

The upper body features an "airy silkiness" with a floating roof and sleek surface, while the lower body adopts solid proportions with muscular fender flares and high ground clearance.

The Dynamic Shield front face is three-dimensionally integrated, creating a sporty front face with depth.

LED daytime running lights with an iconic T-shape make the SUV instantly recognisable as a Mitsubishi model.

The muscular surfaces and sculpted fender flares express the SUV's strength and dynamism.

The rear has a wide and stable look, with the same T-shaped design for LED tail lights.

Further, the Mitsubishi Motors booth will feature a special area where visitors can experience the new Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium sound system, which was jointly developed with Yamaha Corporation and will be adopted for the first time in the all-new compact SUV.

Inside the all-new model, visitors would be able to enjoy the sound system's characteristic, clear mid and high tones as well as lively bass.

The company will also exhibit models sold in Indonesia, including the Xpander and Xpander Cross crossover MPVs, as well as the Pajero Sport mid-size SUV.
