Fine Ferrari's going under the hammer

LONDON: Two beautifully refurbished exotics - a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GT and a 1998 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta are being offered to fans and collectors of the cars that bear the prancing horse.

Both cars will be offered at Silverstone Auctions’ Race Retro Classic Car Sale at Stoneleigh Park on Feb 25 and 26.

The eighth owner acquired the right-hand drive Dino on Jan 27, 1995 and will now be auctioned with a guide price of £300,000 to £350,000 (RM1.73 to RM2.02mil).

Ferrari Dino 246 GT (1974) - 02
It is one of 13 examples in the UK bearing just 34,935 miles (56,595km) on the clock, which features the rare factory-fitted flared wheel arches, finished in Rosso Chiaro with a black vinyl interior and Campagnolo wheels. The Daytona seats were added at a later date, creating what Ferraristas know as the 'Chairs and Flares’ model.

Over the course of 10 years, the owner used the car sparingly, reserved for fine weather driving only, before deciding to send it to Ferrari Specialist Nick Cartwright for a comprehensive refurbishment in March 2014.

More than a year was spent addressing aspects of the car including mechanics, bodywork and interior, including a bare metal strip of the chassis, engine bay and bodywork as well as a full respray.

Now offered for sale for the first time in 22 years, the Dino is accompanied by a complete toolkit and jack, as well as a Ferrari Warranty Booklet, Dino Owner's Manual and a UK V5c.

The right-hand drive F355 is finished in Rosso Corsa with Nero Black leather interior and black carpets,
