Fisker and Foxconn confirm PEAR production in Ohio
By CARSIFU | 14 May 2022LOS ANGELES: Fisker Inc has confirmed that it will produce its second electric vehicle, the Fisker PEAR, at a factory Taiwanese electronics maker Foxconn has acquired in Ohio.
The PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) will enter production in 2024. Both the Fisker and Foxconn teams expect to build a minimum 250,000 PEAR units a year at the plant, after a ramp-up.
“The PEAR will be a revolutionary electric vehicle that won’t fit into any existing segment,” Fisker chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker said.
The PEAR follows the company’s first SUV, the Ocean, which starts production in Austria on Nov 17.
The PEAR, a smaller SUV than the Ocean, will have an expected base price below US$29,900 (RM132,000) before incentives. Fisker has designed and engineered the vehicle to reduce parts for rapid, simplified manufacturing.
The PEAR, expected to have a 400km range, will be built on a new architecture, and the platform will underpin two additional models that Fisker will introduce at a later date.
