Geneva motor show organisers to help Qatar set up own show from 2023
By CARSIFU | 27 August 2021DOHA/GENEVA: There's a new international motor show coming up and it's set to open in Doha in 2023.
It's getting a big helping hand from the organisers of the Geneva Motor Show. The full concept reveal of the Qatar Geneva International Motor Show will be made by the guys behind the Geneva show when the next one is set to resume from Feb 19-27, 2022. The 2020 and 2021 shows had been cancelled because of the pandemic.
As partners, the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) and Qatar Tourism have hinted that the platform is positioned as a new world-renowned motor show for the Middle East.
The first edition of the Qatar Geneva show is planned for the autumn, and the organisers intend the event to take place every two years.
"The joint forces with Qatar Tourism empower us to focus on the upcoming 91st edition of GIMS in February 2022, where we will be able to gather ideas and learnings for the new motor show in Doha,” said the Geneva show's permanent committee president Maurice Turrettini.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive and chairman of Qatar Tourism Akbar Al Baker said the development of the Doha motor show was in tune with the Qatar National Vision 2030 to expand its tourism attractions.
