Handsome Jag E-Type lay dormant for 50 years — now up for auction
By DPA | 05 February 2022LONDON: An example of one of the most handsome sports cars ever made is poised to step back into the limelight after laying dormant in a British barn for nearly five decades.
The 1965 fixed-head Jaguar E-Type in blue with contrasting grey was found under a thick layer of dirt and cobwebs and surrounded by junk after being parked up for minor repairs sometime between 1973 and 1974.
It seems the owner in England's eastern county of Suffolk never got around to fixing the car, according to British auction house H&H Classics which is offering the forgotten Jag for sale next month.
With 128,186km on the odometer, the E-Type still has plenty of life in it. The car is a rare Series 1 version with the original 4.2-litre engine. Similar Jags in perfect condition sell for around US$135,000.
On the Jaguar E-Type's release in 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it "the most beautiful car ever made."
