IGP: Up to 50% discount for road users who use MyBayar Saman app to pay their summonses
By THE STAR | 25 March 2021KUALA LUMPUR: Discounts of up to 50% will be offered to those paying their road summonses via the newly launched MyBayar Saman app.
The offer will start today and is valid until April 11.
At the launch today at Bukit Aman, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said that the application was created to further the police’s service quality to the public.
“It will also help reduce red tape. It gives people options beside counter payments, ” he said.
According to police stats, the police have collected around RM6.6bil in summonses within a span of 30 years.
They have collected RM1.89bil within the last five years alone.
The IGP said that the high number of summons did not paint a good picture of Malaysian road users.
“It doesn’t send a good message as it shows that a lot of Malaysians do not follow the rules.
“It is not the intention of the police to trouble the public or to increase collections, ” he said.
According to Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Deputy Comm Datuk Azisman Alias, the discounts were not offered to selected road offences.
Among them are driving in emergency lanes, and using a mobile phone while driving.
