Malaysian 2-wheel motorsports: AAM out, MAM in
By BERNAMA | 03 December 2019KUALA LUMPUR: The Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) has been announced as the official governing body for all motorcycling activities in Malaysia at the FIM annual general assembly held in Monaco on Saturday.
This came after the FIM board of directors proposed a motion recommending the expulsion of automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM).
MAM in a statement on Monday noted that a Swiss-based sports law specialist Nicola Noth and Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, who represented AAM and MAM respectively, presented their arguments to the delegates before a secret vote was taken.
The delegates then voted by more than the two-thirds required majority to expel AAM from the FIM. A second motion to accept the affiliation of the MAM was then taken and was accepted by unanimous decision.
"As the new governing body of Malaysia, MAM aims to further develop, support and ensure continuity towards Malaysian motorsports."
;The MAM delegation comprised Mokhzani and Muizz Azli while AAM was represented by Nik Muhammad Rafizan Nik Rashid and Noth.
