Mercedes-Benz introduces Flexible Charging System Pro, output up to 22kW

STUTTGART: Mercedes-Benz has introduced the Flexible Charging System Pro, which is touted as a versatile charging solution for electric cars and plug-in hybrids.

It said the AC charger is suitable for use at home, work, or while on holiday, both indoors and outdoors.

Designed to connect to nearly all European socket types and public charging points with a single cable, the system includes various adapters to accommodate different European countries' socket systems.

It also features automatic adapter detection to set the optimal charging power. For added security, the charging system can be wall-mounted to prevent theft.

Mercedes-Benz said the Flexible Charging System Pro is built to the highest safety standards, featuring fault current detection, a temperature sensor, and IP67 waterproofing, even during brief submersion.

It is compatible with all vehicles that have a type 2 plug.

Additionally, the system offers WiFi connectivity for over-the-air updates and remote control of the charging process via the Mercedes-Benz Charger App, which allows users to manage charging settings, view detailed charging history, and access real-time charging information.

The US$900 (RM4,300) charger comes in a Mercedes-Benz branded bag for easy transportation and storage, and weighs 5kg.

It is currently available in the EU, UK, and Switzerland, with plans for wider availability in the future.
