Mercedes E-Class and EQE SUV earned Euro NCAP praise over assistance systems
By CARSIFU | 30 October 2023STUTTGART: Euro NCAP has awarded two Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the E 400 e 4MATIC Saloon and the EQE 500 4MATIC SUV, for their high-performance assistance systems.
Both vehicles received a "very good" overall rating in the special assessment for assistance systems. The E-Class and EQE SUV achieved the highest Euro NCAP results to date in the areas of assistance competence and safety backup.
Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and chief technology officer, said the results proved the effectiveness of Mercedes-Benz's assistance and safety concept in real accident scenarios.
The assessment by Euro NCAP was based on the most comprehensive equipment with assistance systems, including the optional Driving Assistance Package Plus.
The E-Class and EQE SUV come equipped with various systems such as Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Traffic Jam Assist, and Active Lane Keeping Assist, among others.
Mercedes-Benz said it does not differentiate between different drive systems when it comes to safety standards.
The company recently conducted the world's first public crash test of two fully electric vehicles at its Technology Centre for Vehicle Safety. The EQE SUV, like all other Mercedes-Benz vehicles, features a rigid passenger cell, deformation zones, and modern restraint systems.
Additionally, Mercedes-Benz has developed a multi-stage high-voltage safety concept to ensure safety during and after a crash.
