The design is a big departure from its predecessor’s. Subtle detailing is incorporated into the body that exhibits taut lines and balanced proportions.
The signature "cascading grille", first seen in the i30 hatch, will also be slapped onto the front of the car and will be one of many upscale styling features. It bears more than a passing resemblance to the Genesis G80 luxury sedan.
Hyundai did not say what engines will go with the car but it will probably sport four-cylinder and V6 petrol mills mated to an 8-speed automatic.
As is the trend towards less polluting motoring, Hyundai might even over a hybrid version.
The new Azera, sold as the Grandeur at home, will go on sale domestically within the next month.
