Porsche Cayenne GTS makes comeback with V8 engine
By DPA | 12 June 2020STUTTGART: Porsche is bringing back a souped-up Cayenne GTS that really underlines the S in Sports Utility Vehicle.
Powering the measly V6 up to a V8 engine that manages 460hp, you can get this off-roader as a hatchback or coupe from July onwards, Porsche says.
This is a Porsche, so the pricing will, of course, make you wince, but we'll get to that later.
Porsche has upped the output by 20hp to 460hp in the 4.0-litre GTS engine, up from 3.6 litres in the predecessor.
With driving performance on a par with the legendary 911, this Cayenne can leap from a standstill to 100kph in just 4.5 seconds before hitting a maximum speed of 270kph.
At the same time, the luxury brand has tuned the chassis in its biggest SUV to make it tighter, reduced the ground clearance by 2cm, modified the equipment and made the design a little darker with black parts.
And for that genuinely sporty sound, there's also a new sports exhaust system for a roaring vroom.
Now for the painful part: Prices in the European home market will start at €114,087 (RM556,000) for the conventional body, while the coupe will cost another €4,500 (RM21,897) on top. Environmental figures won't go easy on your conscience either, and this off-roader has a 11.2-litre average (255 g/km CO2).
