Sales tax exemption for cars to continue until June 30
By CARSIFU | 29 December 2020PUTRAJAYA: The full sales tax exemption for locally-assembled passenger vehicles and the 50% reduction for fully-imported passenger vehicles have been extended for six months to June 30.
In a statement, the Finance Ministry said it had granted the sales tax waiver and reduction extension under Penjana to further drive the growth momentum of the automotive sector.
The sales tax incentive scheme was due to expire on Dec 31.
Under the scheme, locally-assembled passenger vehicles, including MPVs and SUVs, are given full sales tax exemption.
Fully-imported passenger vehicles, including MPVs and SUVs whether brand new or used, are allowed 50% sales tax waiver.
