Sinkhole appears near bridge in Klang
By THE STAR | 31 December 2019KLANG: A 10m-wide sinkhole that appeared near the Sungai Teluk Menegun bridge along Jalan Kebun here on Monday has disrupted traffic.
The sinkhole is believed to have been caused by soil erosion from the waters of the river beside the bridge.
According to a report issued by the Klang Public Works Department, repairs will take about a week and the road will be fully closed to traffic.
“This is one of the main arteries in the neighbourhood and I hope that motorists will take alternative routes, ” said Sentosa assemblyman G. Gunaraj who was at the scene earlier.
He added that motorists would have to use residential roads instead.
The road closure will affect residents in Kampung Jawa, Teluk Menegun, Taman Maznah, Taman Klang Indah, Kampung Miskin, Taman Emas, Desa Latania, Bt.4 and Golden Villa.
Motorists from Klang town to the Bukit Kemuning roundabout and vice versa can use Jalan Raja Nong and Jalan Sungai Jati.
