Toyota Rangga concept pick-up for business needs

JAKARTA: Toyota is showcasing the Rangga concept pick-up truck at the Aug 10-20 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
It is essentially the Indonesian version of Thailand's Toyota IMV 0 concept.

In a statement, the Japanese automaker said it is continuing the legacy of the Toyota Kijang by introducing the Rangga concept which aims to meet the mobility needs of business industries.

"It is hoped that this concept car can become a hero for business people in Indonesia because it can help many people by providing various effective solutions that are reliable and sustainable," said Toyota.

"Toyota has prepared an ecosystem that is able to read and meet various community needs. Starting from a conversion ecosystem that involves local body builders, financing solution ecosystems, to after sales service ecosystems that can be tailored to your needs," said marketing director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Anton Jimmi Suwandy.

Meanwhile, TAM together with NMAA (National Modificator and Aftermarket Association) held the Toyota Rangga Concept Digimodz contest, which aims to "provide design inspirations according to increasingly specific and diverse business needs."

The IMV 0 concept was previewed during the 60th anniversary celebrations of Toyota Motor Thailand Co Ltd (TMT) in Bangkok in December 2022.

While the majority of concept vehicles never make it to production, the IMV 0 concept is likely to be among the exceptions.

In a video presentation, Toyota engineers had said the IMV 0 is aimed at becoming a national and beloved pick-up truck in Thailand, with "most affordable price tags."

The IMV 0 is designed to be highly modular, versatile and comes with various customisation options for multiple applications such as a food truck or logistics.

Toyota engineers had said the IMV 0 is "like a blank canvas" that owners would paint and colour, and use to "make money".
