Traffic building up on major highways
By BERNAMA | 08 July 2022KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow is getting heavier on main highways heading to the north, south and east coast of the peninsula as of 11am today as more people head out of the Klang Valley.
However, no unusual congestion has been reported so far.
A spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority, when contacted, said the number of vehicles is expected to increase from 2pm.
"There was an increase in traffic volume at the Gombak Toll Plaza while congestion was also reported on a 1.5-kilometre stretch before the Genting Sempah tunnel.
"For the northern route, an accident at KM257.8 from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Kangsar resulted in a 3.6-km crawl, while traffic heading south is still smooth," he said.
A Bernama check at three toll plazas, namely in Gombak, Sungai Besi and Jalan Duta, found that the traffic was still smooth despite an increase in the number of vehicles.
