Updated VW Golf to debut in Jan 2024 to mark its 50th anniversary

WOLFSBURG: Volkswagen (VW) will be celebrating the Golf with a vengeance in 2024 to mark its 50th anniversary.

In fact, the Golf will get an update at the end of January 2024, introducing numerous innovations into series production.

To kick off the anniversary year, VW is presenting the success story at the “Rétromobile” car show in Paris; Volkswagen Classic will also be present at the “Bremen Classic Motorshow”.

In 1974, the Golf succeeded the Beetle and quickly became a pioneer in its class – another seven Golf generations followed. It became the bestselling VW model of all time and also the most successful European car.

More than 37 million vehicles have been sold in eight generations.

The first million units of the Golf were sold in 1976.

Over the decades, the portfolio has been expanded to include further variants: whether Golf GTI, Golf Cabriolet or Golf Variant, or many others.

With each new model generation, state-of-the-art technologies, safety concepts and convenience features have been incorporated into the compact class.

The Golf has thus democratised not just technologies such as the monitored catalytic converter and anti-lock braking system, but also airbags, cruise control and electronic assist systems as well as mild and plug-in hybrid drives.
