Volvo Car Malaysia closes 2021 with 14.3% higher volume
By CARSIFU | 10 January 2022KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia closed 2021 strongly with total sales of 2,229 units, a 14.3% increase from the previous year.
This marked the sixth consecutive year of sales growth, a positive sign for further growth into the coming year.
The sale of 2,229 units also sets a new record for the highest sales performance since the establishment of Volvo Car Malaysia.
Another milestone was the highest sales performance per month on record, with 524 units sold in December 2021 alone.
Almost 73% of all new Volvo cars sold in Malaysia were Recharge models.
Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Charles Frump said the company was proud of its record-breaking achievements in 2021.
"Despite a challenging year, we have gained customers' confidence in providing them with the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way.
"The collective efforts of our dealers and staff have laid the groundwork for an electrifying 2022,
encouraging us to charge towards our goal of becoming a fully electric car company by 2030," he said.
On a global scale, Volvo Cars sales grew by 5.6% to 698,693 cars in the full year 2021.
This results also demonstrated the continued popularity of Volvo Cars’ Recharge line-up of cars with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Sales of Recharge models grew by 63.9% in 2021, compared with 2020.
Recharge cars made up 27% of the company’s total sales volume in 2021.
Almost 40% of all new Volvo cars sold in December were Recharge models, whereof fully-electric cars made up 7.4%.
