Volvo S90 flagship sedan refreshed


KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia has updated the S90 plug-in hybrid with higher levels of chrome-accented exterior and a refreshed interior with a cleaner overall look.

Featuring Scandinavian luxury at its finest, the S90 Recharge T8 Inscription Plus which is priced at RM358,888 (on-the-road without insurance), is now available at RM339,315 after sales tax exemption.

The tail lamps of the S90 Recharge T8 are now similar in design to the recently launched S60 T8 R-Design, marrying luxury with a little sportiness.

The inclusion of vertical air blades on each side of the Sensus user interface, perforated front seats and sunroof raises the bar on elegant aesthetics.

The Sensus panel comes with two front USB ports and supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.

The upgraded Bowers & Wilkins sound system that consists of a total of 19 speakers with an output of 1,400W to provide true high-end, in-car audio performance.

In addition, the new double-dome aluminum tweeters and the new generation mid-range speaker cones in Continuum™ composite, resulting in a more refined, pure and natural sound production.

Powering the S90 Recharge T8 is Drive-E powerplant consisting a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and electric motor combination that outputs 407hp and 640Nm of torque.

A 0-100kph sprint can be done in 4.7 seconds and top speed is capped at 180kph.

The hybrid battery pack is the 11.6kWh lithium-ion type.

Also included is Volvo’s Intellisafe system that comes with Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), City Safety, Cross Traffic Alert, Front and Rear Warning and Mitigation Support, Lane Keeping Aid and Pilot Assist, among others, elevating safety to a higher level.

A non-hybrid S90 T5 is priced at RM328,888 and will be available from June 2021 onwards with sales tax exempted pricing to be announced later.

The S90 T5 uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering 254hp and 360Nm of torque, completing the 0-100kph dash in 6.8 seconds with a top speed also capped at 180kph.
