WATCH: Supercar Blondie digs into Hans Zimmer's collab with BMW
By CARSIFU | 02 February 2022MUNICH: BMW today dropped a video where Hans Zimmer and Supercar Blondie go for a drive in an i4 electric car.
Both are celebrities in their own right. One is a Grammy award-winning film composer; the other is an automotive vlogger and presenter.
Mix them together, and you have the makings of a 3-part "Orchestra of Silence" video series under the BMW campaign to promote electric mobility.
In today's Episode 3, Blondie (real name Alexandra Mary Hirschi) quizzed Zimmer about his multi-faceted works and how he started working with BMW as a "sound designer" for its electric cars.
As it turned out, the root of the collaboration began at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, where Zimmer was an unlikely performer who played together with a 50-person orchestra.
"BMW has always had this connection to art," Zimmer told Blondie. "They basically know that it's artists who ultimately figure out a way of integrating technology into (art) and making it an experience."
He also likens the car cabin to a recording studio, setting the stage for the design of soundscapes that are particular to electric cars.
