Available in three variants of Lite, Plus and Max, prices are estimated from RM170,000 with a booking fee of RM1,000.
The 10-seater Staria variant was introduced following the seven-seater luxury version that was launched in October last year.
The Staria features Hyundai’s new design language that is futuristic and evokes the streamlined form of a spaceship.
Its sleek exterior is defined by a single stroke running from front to rear — inspired by the curve of light that illuminates the Earth’s horizon at sunrise when viewed from space.
The Staria’s front is embellished with horizontal daytime running lights (DRLs) and a positioning lamp on its front, both running across the width of the vehicle.
This is complemented by a bold, wide radiator grille with a unique pattern.
Its generous legroom is among the best in its segment and can be converted into expansive additional cargo space when all seats are pushed together, made possible by the versatile long sliding seat function.
The full-flat mode applied to rear passenger seats makes the Staria a perfect choice for activities that require a lot of room and interior flexibility, such as camping and for equipment-intensive transportation.
Powering the new variant 2.2-litre CRDi turbodiesel that delivers 177PS and 431Nm of torque paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
HSDM managing director Low Yuan Lung said the company had been getting enquiries for the 10-seater variant as the replacement for the Starex.
“Like the Starex, this 10-seater variant is ideal for big families, tour operators and businesses but with vast improvements and more functionalities in every aspect of the vehicle as compared to the Starex,” he said.
