12th Annual Mazda Charity Golf Tournament: Supporting communities

SHAH ALAM: Bermaz Motor recently concluded its 12th Annual Mazda Charity Golf Tournament at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, a two-day event held on Oct 9 - 10, 2026.

The event brought together business partners, government representatives, Mazda customers, golf enthusiasts and members of the community.

Also, the tournament stands as a cornerstone fundraising event for the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF), a charitable platform dedicated to providing medical relief and humanitarian support to underprivileged communities across Malaysia.

Through the MMF, Bermaz Motor continues to extend assistance to patients in need, welfare organisations, children’s homes and community shelters, ensuring that compassion reaches those who need it most.

This year’s edition welcomed 200 participants.

"The strength of this tournament lies in the unity it inspires. Leaders, agencies, partners and customers come together for a shared purpose, reaffirming the belief that compassion is most powerful when it is collective,” said Bermaz Auto Bhd executive chairman Tan Sri Ben Yeoh.

The charity luncheon on Oct 10 was graced by Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

As the Royal Patron of the Mazda Medicare Fund since 2015, His Royal Highness has consistently championed charitable endeavours that bring meaningful change to communities in need.

During the luncheon, representatives from selected beneficiaries were invited on stage to receive symbolic mock cheques.

The 2026 beneficiaries include:
⦁ Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital
⦁ Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak Kanak Yatim Dan Cacat Perlindungan Selangor
⦁ Pusat Jagaan Anak Anak Yatim Sai Pandian
⦁ Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Dan Asnaf Kampung Sijankang
⦁ Yayasan Al Sultan Abdullah

These organisations represent a broad range of community needs, from cancer care and welfare support to safe homes for children and vulnerable groups.

The MMF was established in 2015 through a long-standing collaboration between Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd and B. Braun Avitum Renal Services, with the mission of providing life saving haemodialysis treatment for end stage renal disease patients facing financial hardship.

Over the years, the fund has continued to make a meaningful impact by offering subsidised treatment to eligible patients who would otherwise struggle to access essential care.

Beyond medical relief, the MMF has expanded its support to elderly homes, orphanages, disability centres and facilities for children with special needs.

Each beneficiary is carefully evaluated to ensure transparency, accountability and meaningful impact.

In line with its commitment to responsible stewardship, the MMF directs all contributions fully to charitable purposes without unnecessary overheads.

In addition to annual events, Bermaz Motor has strengthened the long-term sustainability of the Mazda Medicare Fund through the Mazda Privilege Card (MPC), introduced in 2018.

With a one-time sign-up fee of RM100 that goes directly to the fund and qualifies for tax exemption by Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN), the MPC has evolved into both a charitable avenue and a rewarding ownership programme for Mazda customers.

Cardholders contribute meaningfully to supporting underprivileged communities while enjoying exclusive benefits, including a 15% discount on selected Mazda genuine spare parts and a 5% discount on labour charges at Bermaz Motor and Prima Merdu Mazda showrooms and service centres nationwide.

Over the years, the MPC has been warmly embraced by Mazda owners.
