PETALING JAYA: Already in its third year, the CarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards will honour the best passenger vehicles in the market, with the results to be announced this coming Thursday at a gala dinner at Dorsett Grand Subang, Selangor.

In this 2018 edition, awards for 32 categories are up for grabs including the “Car of the Year” title.

The “Car of the Year” title will be given to the best vehicle as judged by CarSifu’s editorial team.

The first and second runner-up will also be announced and honoured at the event.

Among the categories are Best Compact Hatch, Best Economy Car (1.3-litre and below), Best Large-size Car, Best Mid-size Luxury Executive Car, Best Compact SUV/Crossover and Best Pick-up Truck.

Other categories include Best Design of the Year, Best Business Ride, Best Lifestyle Crossover (RM100,000 to RM200,000) and Best Hybrid Vehicle.

The awards will honour outstanding cars for advancements and innovations in areas such as design, features and green technology.

Also included in the judging criteria are key areas such as safety, performance, comfort, fuel economy, handling, styling as well as the individual “wow” factor.

Some 54 vehicles shortlisted are from brands such as BMW, Ferrari, Honda, Isuzu, Jaguar, Kia, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Porsche, Proton, Renault, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo and Weststar Maxus.

Vehicles launched locally from Oct 1, 2017 to Sept 30, 2018 are eligible to be shortlisted for the awards.

Two Honda models won the 2017 and 2016 Car of The Year titles - the Honda CR-V 1.5 TC-P and Civic 1.5 TC-P respectively.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has been invited as the guest of honour for the gala dinner.

Some of the award-winning cars, along with several recently launched vehicles, were presented at the CarSifu Auto Show 2018, that was held at Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur, in August.

Petron Malaysia is the official fuel partner, Dorsett Grand Subang is the venue sponsor, while Toyo Tires and Silverstone are official tyre partners for both the 2018 CarSifu Auto Show and Editors’ Choice Awards.
