The new line-up is available in five variants and choices of front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) as well as SkyActiv direct injection engine options of 2.0-litre (162hp/213Nm), 2.5-litre (192hp/258Nm), 2.5-litre turbocharged (228/420Nm) and 2.2-litre turbodiesel (188hp/450Nm).
The entry CX-5 2.0G Mid FWD comes with on-the-road without insurance for Peninsular Malaysia private registration price of RM144,469.
The 2.0G High FWD is priced at RM161,469, the 2.5G High FWD (RM174,960), the 2.2D turbodiesel High FWD (RM180,322) and the 2.5G turbo High AWD (RM188,760).
The inclusion of Premium body colours of Soul Red and Machine Gray will cost RM3,300 more.
Transmission is a SkyActiv six-speed automatic with manual shift mode.
Featuring Mazda's Kodo – Soul of Motion design philosophy that is rooted in the refined elegance of Japanese aesthetics, the CX-5 gets a new face with three-dimensional elements with the grille positioned above the redesigned lower bumper with a smaller centre intake.
The distinctive signature wing that extends outwards from the grille have been restyled with surface forms.
Both front and rear designs feature four oblong LED lamps that exudes greater sportiness and emphasising the CX-5’s wide and planted stance.
The variants with 2.0-litre engines are equipped with 17-inch wheels while the other engine types get 19-inch alloy wheels with new styling.
The Skyactiv Vehicle Architecture technologies, which has been applied to the CX-5, further evolves the body, suspension and seats to provide a more natural and comfortable experience of driving.
This technological enhancement increases the rigidity of the lateral frame near its body centre with a damping wellbond structure for vibration suppression and better vehicle manoeuvrability.
The CX-5's springs and dampers characteristics have been improved to provide ride comfort and driving quality by mitigating the occupants' head forward pitching when driven over bumps.
The CX-5's seats have been redesigned to increase comfort and reduce the occupants' body sway by optimising its structure and cushion flex.
They also hold the occupants' spine in an S-shaped curve, allowing the spine to flex in response to vibration transmitted from the pelvis to stabilise the occupants' head.
New standard features across all variants include Autofold outer rearview mirrors, Qi Wireless Charger, Wireless Apple Carplay, 8-inch Infotainment display and LED interior lighting.
Also standard are Stop/Start Idling, G-Vectoring Control Plus, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio connectivity, Android Auto, auto dimming rear view mirror, dual-zone front air-conditioner, leather steering wheel, rain sensing wipers, electric power steering, rear parking sensors, six speakers and four USB ports.
Meanwhile, the 2.0G Mid variant gets updated with Mazda's Advanced Keyless Entry while the 2.0G High variant and above now come equipped with new design LED signature headlamps, paddle shifters, power tailgate and 360 view monitor.
The 2.5G High and above variants also receives newly added front driver and passenger seats with ventilation.
The 2.5G turbocharged AWD variant features Mi-Drive, which offers three driving modes, Normal, Sport and Off-Road, to best suit the driving, road and vehicle conditions.
The 2.0G High and above variants are also equipped with new addition of i-Activsense Advanced Driver Assist Safety features, which include Smart Brake Support (SBS), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC, with Stop & Go) and Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS).
Last year, the CX-5 was awarded Top Safety Picks 2023 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Locally assembled at the Inokom Assembly plant in Kulim, Kedah, the CX-5 as well as the CX-30 and CX-8 are made in a dedicated section of the plant where the processes and quality control steps are similar to those of Mazda vehicles manufactured in Japan.
Available colours are Jet Black, Snowflake White Pearl, Machine Gray (Premium), Deep Crystal Blue, Soul Red Crystal (Premium) and newly added Polymetal Gray and Platinum Quartz.
All Mazda vehicles come with a 5-year Manufacturer Warranty + 5 Years Free Maintenance (except Mazda BT-50) including labour, parts and lubricants.
Both Manufacturer's warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000km, whichever comes first.
