2024 Proton X50 arrives: Better NVH and improved features, prices unchanged

SHAH ALAM: Proton today launched the updated X50, one of its bestselling models.
Highlights of the 2024 X50 include more than 20 noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) improvements which result in a quieter and more refined drive.
Standard kit on all X50 variants now include a 10.3-inch infotainment head unit which has been upgraded with a new dual quad-core processor unit with 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage - providing faster bootup speed and loading time.
Proton says the new infotainment system is 3.3 times faster, with 33% quicker boot-up and 55% faster loading.
This allows seamless operation of multiple apps concurrently in the foreground and in the background without any risk of intermittent response.
It also features the popular “Hi Proton” voice command and Proton Link app (Executive, Premium and Flagship variants), which can start the engine and air-conditioning to cool the cabin remotely.
There's also online music streaming with Spotify and Joox apps.
Also, a new High-Definition 360-degree camera displays crystal clear images even in low light conditions.
There's an Auto Park Assist function to help drivers.
When operating the signal stalk, a 3D view of the surroundings will appear to reduce blind spots for safer lane changes and this safety feature is functional up to 150km/h.
A powered tailgate is now on the Premium and Flagship variants, when previously this was an option.
Cumulatively, the product upgrades to the 2024 X50 is said to deliver RM6,000 worth of added value to buyers.
However, prices remain unchanged, at RM86,300 (Standard); RM93,300 (Executive); RM101,800 (Premium) and RM113,300 (Flagship) on-the-road without insurance.
Proton also offers a limited-time Early Bird Package offering incentives of up to RM8,500 to the first 5,000 customers who register their new purchase by July 31.
These incentives are a RM7,000 cash discount and RM1,500 trade-in overtrade support.
The 2024 X50 comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, five-year data package with 1GB per month and six times free labour service.
The 2024 X50 is offered in five exterior colours; Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, Ocean Blue and Passion Red.
It is available for booking online at (https://www.proton.com/en/purchase/register-interest) and at authorised Proton showrooms.

Prior to the new X50 launch, Proton held a track preview of the model at its test track.
Proton aims to sell up to 2,500 units per month of the new X50. It would also continue to be exported to 11 countries that Proton is already in.
