PETALING JAYA: Local official Mazda vehicle distributor Bermaz Motor has launched the updated MX-5 RF roadster lineup which includes a limited-issue 35th Anniversary Edition variant.
Imported from Japan, selling prices in Peninsular Malaysia for private registration are RM293,000 for the MX-5 2.0L manual, RM295,000 for the 2.0L automatic and RM315,000 for the MX-5 2.0L automatic 35th Anniversary Edition.
Making its debut in 1989, the MX-5 nameplate has remained true to its philosophy of Jinba-Ittai (rider and horse as one) in delivering an unparalleled driving experience despite evolving in performance and technology over the decades.

For the 2025 lineup, updates include LED headlamps with a recessed circular low beam, new styling Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and rear combination lamps with concave lens that provides an "afterburner" effect.
The rear bumper is updated with reflectors and a rear fog light.
The interior gets a newly designed meter cluster that offers improved legibility and readability with a darker dial face color and an updated pointer shape, while the new 8.8-inch display infotainment system features voice recognition with Bluetooth, Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Also available are a retractable hardtop, black leather interior, cruise control, two USB Type-C ports, reverse sensors with guidelines, 17-inch wheels, frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bose speakers, advanced keyless entry and walk away auto lock among others.
The Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system has been updated to enhance nimbleness and precision by reducing friction on the steering rack by 5% to provide smoother operation.

Powering the MX-5 lineup is the 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G direct injection engine delivering 181hp and 205Nm of torque.
The six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission comes with manual shift, while the six-speed SkyActiv-Drive manual gearbox features an asymmetric limited slip differential.
The manual variant also gets that DSC-TRACK that delivers a more engaging and less intrusive driving experience by allowing greater driver control while still offering a safety net when needed.

Also featured are airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Stop/Start Idling Technology, Mazda i-Eloop Technology, Kinematic Posture Control (KPC), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control System (TCS), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Hill Launch Assist (HLA).
Available colours are Deep Crystal Blue, Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Jet Black, and the newly added Aero Gray which was introduced on the 2023 Mazda2 and CX-3 models.

Other advanced technologies in the MX-5 lineup include Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Smart Brake Support (SBS), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS).
The 35th Anniversary Edition, introduced to commemorate the MX-5's long legacy, stands out with its exclusive Artisan Red Premium exterior colour — Mazda’s fourth special hue created through the auto maker’s unique Takuminuri painting technology.

Its advanced three-layer finish enhances the sculpted body lines, accentuating both strength and elegance.
Artisan Red Premium delivers a fine-grained, transparent red that radiates brilliance with deep and rich tones.

The limited-run variant also gets its dashboard trims, leather seats, carpeting and floor mats in a matching Tan finish.
It also comes with the anniversary logos around the vehicle and embossed on the headrests.

All new Mazda vehicles are offered with a 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty + 5-Years Free Maintenance according to manufacturer’s standards inclusive labour, parts and lubricants (except for Mazda BT50 pick-up truck).
Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000km, whichever comes first.

The MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition will be showcased at the Bermaz Auto Showcase, happening from April 10-13 at Oval Concourse, 1Utama Shopping Centre, from 10am – 10pm.
