2025 Proton X50 facelift launched: From RM90K, 1.5T 4-cylinder, Malay voice command

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2025 Proton X50 facelift has been launched, and it delivers more power with a new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is fitted on all three variants.

On-the-road (OTR) prices are RM89,800 (Executive), RM101,800 (Premium), and RM113,300 (Flagship).

The standard after-sales package feature a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and six free labour services.

Proton is also offering an upgraded five-year data package with 2GB/month (from 1GB/month previously).

The first 10,000 bookings that register their vehicles by Oct 31, 2025, will enjoy a "Gempak! Deal", which features a rebate of RM4,000 and other attractive offers.

This includes financing options from finance partners, with interest rates capped at 2.35% per annum for five years and 2.38% per annum for seven years.

Proton is also offering up to RM2,000 trade-in support.

Buyers who choose to insure their vehicle through the upgraded Proton Insurance Programme will enjoy additional benefits - Special Perils coverage, Child seat coverage up to RM500 and personal accident coverage for passengers up to RM15,000 per person on top of the existing coverage including up to 10 years of betterment cost waiver, agreed value protection up to 12 years, all-driver coverage, key replacement coverage up to RM1,000, flood relief coverage up to RM1,000, personal accident coverage for policyholder up to RM15,000, and round-the-clock roadside assistance with towing services.

The 2025 X50 facelift gets updates such as new exterior and interior styling, upgraded ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) level 2 features, better infotainment with a 14.6-inch infotainment display, and for the first time, Malay voice command system.

There's also significantly more muscle here, with a new 1.5-litre TD i-GT engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, producing 133kW (181PS) of power and 290Nm of torque.

This is compared against the previous edition's TGDI Flagship variant with 130kW (177PS) of power and 255Nm of torque.

The 2025 X50 facelift X50 can rocket from 0 to 100kph in just 7.6 seconds — outpacing the 2025 edition by 0.3 seconds.

Proton says it delivers 4.7% boost in fuel efficiency, and sets a new benchmark for performance and economy in its class.

“The new X50 reflects our continuous pursuit of excellence in automotive design and technology," said Proton CEO Li Chunrong.

"Our ambition is to raise the standard for the B-segment, giving Malaysian drivers an experience that is smart, spirited, and truly next-generation,” he added.

The base Executive variant comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, LED automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, cruise control with speed limiter, four drive modes (Sport, Eco, Comfort, Adaptive), fabric seats, automatic air-conditioning with N95 cabin filter, rear air vents, 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, voice command (Malay and English), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six audio speakers, as well as two USB-A and two USB-C ports.

Safety and driver assist features include six airbags, auto brake hold, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, hill hold assist, hill descent control, lane change assist (LCA), rear cross traffic alert (RCTA), rear collision warning, door opening warning, reverse camera, and front (two) and rear (four) parking sensors.

As for the Premium variant, it adds on 18-inch alloy wheels, front welcome lamps, roof rails, powered tailgate, security tint, leatherette seats, six-way powered driver’s seat, rear centre armrest, and multi-colour rhythmic light.

On the Premium variant, extra safety and driver assist features include autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, lane centering control, traffic sign recognition, front departure alert, intelligent high beam control, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a 360-degree camera with transparent view.

Meanwhile, the Flagship variant adds on a Sporty rear spoiler, auto-dimming rear view mirror, semi-transparent sun visors, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, automatic park assist, and extra front (six) and rear (six) parking sensors.
