KUALA LUMPUR: GWM Malaysia has introduced the 2026 GWM Tank 500 HEV (hybrid electric vehicle), featuring enhanced smartphone connectivity.
The 2026 model enhances the ownership experience across three key areas: remote vehicle control, vehicle monitoring, and location and alerts.

Through the GWM Intelligent Application, owners can remotely prepare their vehicle before setting off.
They can start or stop the engine, control the air-conditioning even schedule it to start automatically at a preferred time.
The air purifier and seat ventilation can also be activated remotely, allowing the cabin to be cooled, ventilated and prepared in advance.
Owners can also lock or unlock the doors, check whether the sunroof and windows are closed, and close them remotely when needed.
These functions give owners peace of mind after leaving the vehicle, allowing them to confirm that it is properly secured without being inside it.
Owners can check whether the engine is running, monitor the remaining driving range and fuel level, and view the vehicle’s total mileage.
Tyre pressure and temperature for all four tyres can also be monitored remotely, with notifications issued when abnormalities are detected.
When fuel level or the 12V battery level are low, owner will receive notification, allowing them to respond to potential issues before their next journey.
The application displays the status of the doors, windows and sunroof, while alerts notify the owner if a door is not fully closed or a window has been left open.
Owners can also check the status of selected cabin functions, including the air-conditioning, air purifier and seat ventilation.
Owners can remotely view their vehicle’s current location or activate the horn and hazard lights to locate the vehicle more easily in a crowded car park.
The geofencing function allows owners to set a virtual boundary around a selected area and receive an alert when the vehicle leaves the area, providing an added layer of awareness and reassurance.
Vehicle access can also be shared with another user, while GPS location settings give owners greater control over the vehicle’s location services.
Together, these connected functions enable owners to know where their vehicle is, remain informed and remotely manage selected access and security settings.

2026 GWM Tank 500 HEV owners will also continue to enjoy comprehensive warranty and ownership coverage.
These include a lifetime warranty on engine, transmission and HEV system (exclusive to first-hand private owners), power battery warranty of eight years or 200,000km, a six-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, and a five-year free maintenance package.
The 2026 GWM Tank 500 HEV is now available at selected GWM dealerships nationwide.
