2026 Kia Carnival enters Malaysia at RM188,888

KUALA LUMPUR: Kia Sales Malaysia (KSM) officially launches its first model in the form of its most popular multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

Locally assembled in Kulim, Kedah, the Kia Carnival returns with a 2026 facelift and comes available in either seven-or 11-seater configuration.

The pricier seven-seater variant at RM246,888 with a 2-2-3 seating configuration features fold-flat sinking third-row seats allowing for additional cargo space.

In the second row are Premium Relaxion Seats with a lateral slide function in the second row.

To rationale the pricing, only the seven-seater comes complete with a comprehensive suite of safety and driver assistance features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0 (FCA 2.0), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Highway Drive Assist 2 (HDA 2), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCTA), and Rear Occupant Alert (ROA).

Meanwhile, the RM188,888 11-seater variant with a 2-3-3-3 configuration features a central folding jump seat in the second and third rows for easier access for rear passengers. It also has a larger side mirror.

Other than seat configurations and tyre rims the two variants are largely similar.

Both run on a returning 2.2-litre Smartstream four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that delivers 202PS at 3,800rpm and 440Nm of torque from 1,750rpm to 2,750rpm.

Paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels, the combination gives it a fuel consumption rating at 6.5 litres per-100km (NEDC), and over 900km of drive range.

Looks-wise the new Carnival sports a revised front-end design that features a wide front grille complemented by a cleanly sculpted bumper that is flanked by Star Map daytime running light (DRL) graphics with a unique vertical headlamp cluster.

At the rear sees a repositioning of the licence plate housing to the lower tailgate and bold Star Map tail lamps.

Its cabin is dominated by a curved panoramic display, dominating the dashboard via integration of a dual 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment screens.

Ambient lighting spans the width of the dashboard that extends to the crash pad and door trims.

Usability is said to have been improved through physical infotainment and climate controls as well as enlarged deluxe-size cup holders.

In terms of safety the 2026 Carnival comes with a total of eight airbags, including a new centre-side airbag that prevents secondary collision between front-seat passengers in the event of an impact.

Speaking at the launch event, KSM president and chief operating officer Hyung Ho said the launch of the new Carnival reflects the brand's long-term commitment to Malaysia and is more than just a product introduction.

"Our (KSM) strategy is centred on offering the best-fit products for local customers, combining quality, relevance and long-term ownership value.

"The new Carnival is a clear embodiment of this philosophy and an important milestone as we continue to strengthen Kia’s presence in Malaysia,” he reiterated.

Managing director Emily Lek further expanded on the matter by saying the launch is KSM's first introduction to the market to get to know them (Kia) again.

"The question 'Kenapa Pilih Kia?' is the question that ignites this new era of Kia in Malaysia. This is the new Kia: thoughtful in design, purposeful in innovation and made to inspire in every journey,” she concluded.

The 2026 Kia Carnival is offered in four exterior colours: Meteor Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Astra Blue, and Jet Black.

Every new Kia Carnival is backed by a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).
