TOKYO: The 2026 Lexus IS sports sedan offers refined performance for enthusiast drivers, a new front facia, and an improved advanced preventive safety system.
There are two variants, namely the IS 300h and IS 350.
Lexus said "refinement in performance and design" was the key development theme.
As for driving performance, the new IS' development goal was to further refine steering feel and vehicle stability.
The electric power steering (EPS) uses a variable gear ratio to reduce steering angle at intersections and through corners, improving steering feel.
In addition, a linear-solenoid type AVS (adaptive variable suspension system) achieves a high-level balance of vehicle stability and reduced road-surface shock, resulting in improved driving comfort.
Meanwhile, the exterior has been updated with a new front design that accentuates the IS's low center of gravity and wide stance.
The "F SPORT" model adds to this dynamic appeal with a newly designed rear spoiler that improves aerodynamic performance, along with newly styled 19-inch lightweight aluminum wheels.
All models now feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen centre display while the digital instrument cluster has been upgraded to a 12.3-inch full LCD display.
The upper console and start switch bezel feature the new "Forged Bamboo" trim.
Lexus said the natural bamboo fibres create a distinctive "In-ei" shading effect that captures the IS's dynamic energy and enhances the sporty feel of the cabin.
Also, the new IS has expanded features in the Lexus Safety System +, along with the introduction of Advanced Drive which is an advanced driver assistance system.
