2026 Mazda CX-5 to launch in Australia in mid-2026

SYDNEY: The third-generation Mazda CX-5 is expected to arrive in Australia in mid-2026, and will offered in five variants: Pure; Evolve; Touring; GT SP and Akera.

The exterior design unveils the next iteration of “Kodo – Soul of Motion”, a concept brought to life on the first-generation of CX-5 introduced 14 years ago.

The next-generation CX-5 draws on the traditional Japanese woodworking technique of “Kigumi” – the art of wood joinery without metal fasteners – coming to life between the lower cladding and wheel arch.

Mazda Australia managing director Vinesh Bhindi said, “The CX-5 holds an esteemed status in Australia, and the next generation will continue to do the same. It brings even more advanced technology, significantly more practical SUV (sport utility vehicle) dimensions and is of course infused with the superb Jinba-Ittai driving dynamics Mazda is famous for.”

The CX-5 will be powered by the G25 2.5-litre Skyactiv G powertrain, offering up to 132kW (180PS) of power and 242Nm of torque on 91 octane fuel, and returns a frugal 7.4 litres per 100km.

Via Mazda’s six-speed Skyactiv-Drive transmission, power is distributed to all four wheels.

Safety technologies include Smart City Brake Support for both forward and rear directions, Lane-keep Assist System (LAS), Lane-departure warning (LDW), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go function.
